Cumby Collegiate ISD will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 9th through Friday, January 10th due to the Winter Storm Warning for our area beginning early Thursday morning with the peak Thursday evening into Friday morning. The National Weather Service is predicting snow accumulations of 2-4 inches and a mix of snow and sleet (1-2 inches) and ice (up to 1/10th inch). With the possibility of road conditions deteriorating throughout the day on Thursday, we do not want to be at school and face hazardous conditions as we head home for the day. The safety and security of all is our top priority.
All extracurricular activities will be canceled for Thursday and those on Friday are pending. If road conditions are hazardous, there will not be any extracurricular activities Friday as well. If road conditions are normal, those activities will proceed as scheduled.
Winter Weather Update: Cumby Collegiate ISD is closely watching the possibility of severe winter weather for our area. Please know as soon as a decision is made concerning a late start or school closure we will update you as quickly as possible.
With the potential of winter weather throughout January and February, it is a good time to remind you of where you can get the latest updates of any potential school delays or closures.
We will send out a mass communication through our Apptegy/Thrillshare app. An all call and a text will be made and we will also post to Facebook.
We will make every effort to alert families as soon as possible.
The safety of our students and staff, as well as their families, will drive our decisions on those days.

Our annual PK-5 Christmas program will be held this evening in the new gym, immediately following the parade, around 7:00 pm. If you have a student performing in the program, please take them to their teacher on the visitor side of the gym and then find a seat to enjoy the program. After the program is over, please remember to check in with your child's teacher before taking them for the evening. We are asking that all students stay for the entire program in order to not disrupt the performances. Black Jack Grove Daughters will be serving hot chocolate and cookies in the gym foyer following the program.
Don't forget that the annual "PTO Gingerbread House Family Night" is this coming Thursday, December 5th starting at 6:30 to 7:30. See you all there!

At this time there is NO credible evidence suggesting that the recent social media posts represent an actual threat. It is believed that these posts are part of a hoax intended to cause unnecessary alarm in our communities. CCISD Police Chief Tony Crouse, Cumby Police Chief Johnny Painter, and Hopkins County Sheriff Lewis Tatum are working closely together to address the situation.
